I've just returned from a little trip back to Scotland to pick up a new bike! Naturally I took some time out while I was there to go out for a ride or two on my old wheels - saving the new bike for my return back home to the sunny Algarve.

I say the sunny Algarve, but I have to tell you that the weather was very kind to me while I was in Scotland. There was a spring heatwave (of sorts!) - wonderful cycling weather that also provided me with the perfect backdrop to take some great photos whilst out riding.

While I was lapping up the sun in Edinburgh, some of my cycling pals in the Algarve were accusing me of taking the weather back to Scotland with me, as the skies turned cloudy over Portugal!

It was really lovely to be back in Edinburgh and the stunning countryside that surrounds Scotland's capital. Not only was it lovely to spend time with family and friends; the cycling was fantastic, and I was genuinely very lucky with the weather.

Now I'm back in the Algarve, I see that the normal March temperatures have returned to Scotland. I see there is even a chance of snow in the forecast......not so here! While it's unbelievably windy this week, the clocks have changed, and the wonderful long sunny evenings are returning at last. Now...to set up that new bike and get out and test it.....once the wind calms down!
