As you may already have seen on our social media, we recently enjoyed our first road trip of the year. Late April is a fantastic time to get away - the wild flowers are in bloom; there are hardly any tourists around, and the weather is just starting to get warm.
Having spent so long in the North of the UK where a trip usually means jumping on a plane, there is something wonderful about getting in the car and hitting the open road. As you can see by the photos we took, there is also hardly any traffic on the roads in Portugal which makes for a stress free and enjoyable drive!
We travelled through Alentejo, which is one of our favourite regions of Portugal, on this trip, and picked a couple of brand new destinations that we will be blogging about in the weeks to come.
We also hopped over the border into Spain a couple of times, and the novelty factor of crossing the border and losing or gaining an hour never ceases to get old. A trip with no traffic, no jet lag, and hardly any people.....now that is our kind of trip!
