Last summer we went on a magical road trip through the North of Portugal. Our journey took us from Porto; right across to Marvão, which is close to the Spanish border.
Our journey took us into the stunning Peneda-Gerês national park, and one day we came across a tiny little hamlet and had a wonderful experience.
This part of Portugal is like going back in time. We saw two elderly ladies moving huge barrows of grapes through the streets, and then we noticed something. Almost every street is covered in a canopy of vines!
Grapes are everywhere, and the smell was incredible - like sniffing a bottle of undiluted Ribena, it was unbelievable!
One of the wonderful things about a road trip is that you never know what you will discover, but this memory (and that wonderful smell!) will stay with us forever!
