I first came to Portugal 31 years ago on a family holiday, and I fell in love straight away! Before we made the move out here last summer I found an old diary from that year. In it I described how much I had enjoyed my first experience of the country, and that one day I hope to live there......the dream started early!
Over the years I have done so much exploring, and I feel very well informed about the best places to visit; eat, and travel - and those to avoid too! That includes the best beaches, and who would have thought there would be more to discover right on our doorstep.
Last week I met someone who talked about a secret little beach, so secret they didn't even know the name. Well a quick search on google maps and I found the delightfully named Praia Santa!
After a week of intense heat here in the Algarve, Sunday was the perfect slightly overcast day to visit, as it involves a bit of a walk to get to the beach. Once there, it was a super cute little bay with gorgeous fine sand and calm turquoise waters.
The rock formations were also quite incredible - and very hard to photograph because of the sheer scale of the cave that the sea has carved under the cliffs.
Having spent so much of my life discovering the wonders that Portugal has to offer, it's fantastic to find that we have even more little gems to unearth as we continue to fall even more in love with this special country.
