One of the things we live about Portugal is the diversity of the country. Many visitors only experience the beauty of the beaches and fishing villages of the Algarve but the country is about so much more than that, and Porto is a great example.
This coastal city in the North West of Portugal is stunning - but very different to the capital Lisbon, in both looks and attitude. It just has a different feel to Lisbon...albeit it feels just as hilly!
From the famous story-telling azulejos (tiles) in São Bento train station, to the steep San Francisco style streets, the city is extremely 'instagrammable'!
Porto has approximately 250,000 inhabitants, about half the number of Lisbon, and at just 16 square miles, it gives you the opportunity to see plenty of sights within a relatively condensed space.
Porto feels a little more laid-back than Lisbon, but is just as popular with tourists who flock to the Port wine cellars to see what the fuss is all about. If you've already been to Lisbon - give Porto a try...you won't be disappointed!
